I don't mean to put a downer on the day, but this blog is slightly more serious than the last one, even though I posted more fun pictures.
After paintballing, I have much more respect for our military. It's not that I didn't respect them before, but I just have much better understanding of what they go through. Let me explain.
Here I was, stuck in this house (basically four walls and openings for two doors and a window) on one of the fields with Luong and we were stuck. We had guys shooting at us from both sides. If we went to shoot on one side, we were exposed on the other side. So, we were sitting ducks.
As I hid there, paintballs were flying right past our ears. And I looked at Luong and I knew we were both good as gone.
Then, I thought, wow, imagine if I were 18 or 19 and had just been sent to Iraq and these were REAL bullets in a REAL shootout. I don't think I could come to grips knowing that my friend and I were going to be dead in a matter of minutes.
Even though the whole day was a lot of fun, that one moment was a real reality check for me.

Comments:
Wait...how did it end with you and LB? Surrender or 'til death? Sounds like lotsa fun.

I didn't think about the comparison until you brought it up. Paintballing can put things in perspective, especially for those fighting the good fight overseas.

On a lighter note, the game can help us guys live out our fantasies. Like if you were stuck in that crossfire...well, WWJBD? =)
