CLEVELAND DOES NOT ROCK
We had a great time in Cleveland. But it had NOTHING to do with the city itself. Instead, it had everything to do with the city itself.
I should have known it was going to be bad when, before we even left for Cleveland, I looked up their top 10 points of interest, and the first one was a meat/vegatable/fruit market and the second one was some building.
Not even the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was very impressive. It definitely didn't merit the $20/person entrance fee. The few highlights were checking out the clothes of various musicians over the years (from Sam Cooke to Elvis to Elton John to Hanson to Christina Aguilera). Sorry, they have a strict no pictures policy there so we were only able to snap a few at the entrance. If you're not REALLY into old school rock and roll (aka Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, etc), it's not all that. The highlights were checking out the cool architecture of the Hall itself, being able to see some of the props U2 used during their Zoo TV tours and getting on the air with the DJ on Sirius Radio.
In fact, the most exciting part of Cleveland (for me anyway) was seeing beautiful Jacobs Field (from the outside) and Quicken Loans Arena right next door. Seeing all thousands and thousands of Indians fans arrive in downtown early to eat and hang out, completely decked out from head to toe in Indians gear was good to see. I wish LA could be like that.
But truly, the best times we had were when we were all together at the junky hotel we stayed at. We played cards one night until the week hours of the morning and did it again the next night playing a semi-version of Taboo using famous people we thought up ourselves. I'll have to explain it better another time when I'm running on more than 1.5 hours sleep.
Zzzzzz . . . .
