SUDOKU
For about the last month or so, the LA Times has printed a new logic puzzle each day called Sudoku. Apparently, it's been popular in Japan for years and is the latest craze in logic games. The rules are very easy, but the challenge is not.
I haven't officially sat down to try one yet, but Karena got hooked today at work. After spending a half hour doing one of the LA Times' easier Sudokus, she thought she'd never do another one again. But after finding out the front desk person finished a medium level one in less time, her competitive juices took over. Now, she's sitting down and doing one right now so she can prove to herself (and her co-workers) that's she's no slouch when it comes to sudokus.
Try one.
Comments:
They are big in London too -- I saw several people doing them on the underground.

From a Comp. Sci. perspective, these things are called Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs) and there is a whole field dedicated to solving problems like this more quickly!
