CHERRY PICKING AND SHOPPING
It was a busy day for the extended Shen family, as 11 of us met up early Saturday morning to drive out to Beaumont (read: really, really far) to go cherry picking. Because we went toward the end of the season, the cherries were smaller and you had to work a little harder to get them. While picking, my sister Sandra and cousin Jonathan even saw a small bear eating the fruit, but he ran away before we could get closer. The highlight was all the pit spitting contests we had. There's just something fun about competing with your wife to see who can spit a pit the farthest!
Afterwards, we were all dehydrated and exhausted, but were willing to deal with it a little longer to go shopping at the Cabazon outlets. Karena was disappointed there was no Banana Republic, but her disappointment quickly melted away at the prospects of buying women's V-neck shirts for $3.50 and men's striped button-down long sleeve shirts for $8.50 at J. Crew. We bought 8 items for under $45 dollars. Amazing.
To end the evening, we all went back to Montebello and had a huge dinner with dessert (and a lot of water to rehydrate) while watching Hitch and doing the Sudoku from the LA Times (Karena has gotten my whole family hooked!)
