SIMON'S BIRTHDAY
A bunch of us were privileged enough to join in the celebration for Simon's birthday. The night featured good eating (ribs from Lucille's, chicken from Popeye's, Shake-N-Bake (one of my all time favs), and a Porto's fruit tart.
But the significant part happened before one bite of food had been consumed. We began the evening by having an encouragement/sharing/prayer time for Simon, especially as he takes his first few steps into full-time ministry. Many tears were shed, many laughs were had (many at his expense), and many stories and memories were shared. Afterward, we didn't feel like we had encouraged Simon so much as we had begun to build a deeper sense of community with each other. It was truly an amazing time.
