CHINESE NEW YEAR AND LENT
Happy Chinese New Year to all, especially those born in the Year of the Rooster!
Also, today is Ash Wednesday, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Many people have voluntarily decided to give something up for the next 40 days in preparation for Easter. The toughest one I've heard so far is Jason giving up all sports (ESPN, Fox Sports, NBA on TNT, etc.) As for me, I've taken a much easier approach -- I'm giving up watching things on TV that I've already seen. That will include DVDs I own and movies they show on cable or reruns of TV shows. Apparently, I do that quite a bit. So, no Cosby Show or Friends reruns, no watching SportsCenter and then watching it again as soon as the last one just finished. No more watching any of the Rocky movies. It's going to be tough ...
Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE sponsor Karena or me for the 30 Hour Famine. This is a sponsored by WorldVision and allows improverished people all over the world receive food, an education, and some biblical teaching. Plus, this year's money will also go toward tsumani victims. And as for me, it's a good challenge for me to avoid doing the thing I love most -- eating and instead focusing on God and experiencing a little bit of what hunger might feel like to these people. Even if you sponsor me $1, I'd be SO happy! So, please think about it. Thanks.

Comments:

Vic:
The second part sounds like begging to me... :) I wonder if we'll be hitting up the same people to sponsor at church!

Happy Lent!
