My patient had this funny story to share regarding Pearl Harbor Day:
I knew Americans were bad at geography, but I didn't know we were also so bad at history.
Sad.
My patient had this funny story to share regarding Pearl Harbor Day:
"On December 7th, I asked everybody in my office if they knew what day December 7th commemorated. The scary part was that nobody knew. But the best partwas that one guy even said, 'Hey, don't ask me anything about history,especially American history. I'm from Hawaii!'"

Sad indeed. Although if he was 100% Hawaiian, he could also say that's "AMERICAN history, the history of those imperialists keeping my peeps down, bruddah." I never realized until I read up about Hawaii while in Maui that it's like many Native American tribes: resentment at the rich white man's encroachment on their land and culture. --JC
