WARMING UP THE HOUSE
Last night, Karena and I had some of our friends from church over for a housewarming party. I have to admit that we worked pretty hard Friday night and Saturday morning to clean up the place, organize our things, and put some extra touches in time for people to see. After putting in all this work, I sat down completely exhausted before anybody had even showed up yet and before we had even started BBQing and began to question whether this whole thing was going to be worth it.
But as usual, my friends delivered ... and then some. We had SUCH A GREAT TIME having our dearest friends to warm up the place, give us some pretty great housewarming gifts (Betta fish, air purifier, the boardgame Clue, sauce plates, plants, and a personalized photo frame complete with Bible verses). Some of thing had went dunking on our lowered basketball hoop, some watched TV, some played cards, but we all enjoyed each other's company. It was TOTALLY worth it.
The highlight of the evening was all of us sitting around the TV watching the A's-Red Sox game, where Boston prevailed in the 11th inning, thanks to a walk-off home run by Trot Nixon.
Afterwards, as Karena and I were cleaning up, I paused to look around the house. It was home. And thanks to our friends, it felt warm inside.
