A SPORTS TOWN
Disclaimer: Even if you don't like sports, this blog is still worth reading. The biggest complaint I get about this page is that I talk about sports too much. But this one is only indirectly about sports.
After the Angels amazing defeat of the mightyYankees yesterday, I have to say that L.A. is a sports town again. And in a big way. Do you remember back in 1988 when the Lakers were back-to-back champs, the Dodgers were crowned world champs, and the then-L.A. Rams were prospering? This city was a much closer, tight-knit place.
Since then, the world has changed dramatically. Just look at the headlines: Police brutality, gangs, riots, etc have ripped this city apart. But what is brining this city back together? What is causing us to join hand-in-hand, looking past race, past age, past color or creed? One HUGE thing is being able to cheer on the three-time defending champion Lakers, the back-to-back Sparks (uhh, I guess), and now the feel-good Angels. It just goes to show that we are still the city of champions.
I love L.A.
(We love it!)
